Course Syllabus
Description
This course is the second course of the Secondary Health Core designed to provide the student with an in-depth knowledge of the human body, structure, and function. This course will incorporate the Body Structures and Functions curriculum and Paxton Patterson career exploration labs. In addition, students will have the opportunity to earn NAF credits that are needed to become internship eligible and obtain NAF certification. Lastly, this course will serve as a prerequisite to the 3rd class (Health and Wellness/Exercise Science) in which students will have the opportunity to obtain industry certifications.

Grading
CCPS Grading policy is in effect:
- Quarterly grades are worth 40% of your semester grade.
- Mid Term and/or Final Exams are worth 20% of your semester grade.
Quarter grading is divided into 3 sections:
- Classwork: 40%
- Discussions: 15%
- Assessments: 40%
- Participation: 5%
Academic Policy
- All assignments are due on the announced due date.
- Late assignments will be accepted for 7 days after the original due date with a 25% reduction. Assignments will NOT be accepted after the late due date.
- Paxton Patterson assignments are due on Friday of each week. Paxton Patterson assignments will NOT be accepted after Friday of the corresponding week.
- It is the responsibility of the student to ask for assignments and grade adjustments for late submissions.
Classroom Behavior
- Students are expected to act in a manner that reflects the guidelines outlined per CCPS policy. Refer to the student handbook.
- Students must wear face masks and ID badges at all times.
- The unauthorized use of electronic devices is prohibited. The use of unauthorized electronic devices will result in grade point deductions. If persistent, the submission of an electronic device to the front office will be required.
Dress Code
- Refer to LHS policy.
Academic Integrity
- Cheating will not be tolerated. If cheating occurs, the student will receive a zero.
