COURSE DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this course is to provide opportunities to study the concepts of matter, energy, and forces, and their applications through exploratory investigations and activities. Topics to be studied include processes of science, structure of atoms, structure and properties of matter, conservation of energy, interactions of energy and matter, motions and forces, interactions among science, technology, and society. Laboratory investigations in the high school classroom help all students develop a growing understanding of the complexity and ambiguity of empirical work, as well as the skills to calibrate and troubleshoot equipment used to make observations.
