Course Syllabus
World Language-Spanish I
Syllabus. Spanish 1. 2021-22.pdf
Dear Parent/Guardian,
¡Hola! I hope that this letter finds you refreshed and relaxed from your summer vacaciones. As we begin the new school year, I would like to inform you about what your children can expect in la clase de español this year and what I expect from the students.
This student centered course is designed to ensure that students become more aware of the world around them and learn to appreciate diversity, as they learn a new language. Classroom activities are geared to have students speak Spanish from day one, feeling confident in a friendly and safe atmosphere. Thus, most of the classes involve students’ participation through role-plays, presentations and discussions. Many of the activities and games in class encourage students to talk about themselves and their world, in Spanish, enabling them to apply their newly acquired language skills to their everyday lives. The goal is to encourage them to communicate confidently in Spanish, in specific situations, and to stimulate them to have fun with the Spanish Language and become curious about the culture of Spanish Speaking Countries.
As an educator, I stand firm and ready to assist your child in the learning of Spanish language. I believe that parents are key in the academic success of their children, so I ask you to communicate with me with any concerns you may have and also encourage your child to ask me any questions about anything they do not understand during lecture or homework. To achieve our classroom goals and maintain a positive and effective learning environment, students must follow all school rules and regulations as well as my class rules. Please take a moment to review and familiarize yourself with the Syllabus posted on Canvas, then complete the receipt slip and have your child return it to class on or before August 20th.
Looking forward to meeting you in person at Open house. I value your ideas and welcome your suggestions!
Sincerely,
Sra. Miranda-Rivera
