Course Description:

On-the-Job Training is a program that allows credit to be earned for employment outside of school.  In this way, students “Earn while they Learn!”   Over the school year, students will demonstrate their ability to be successfully employed, and make appropriate decisions in work situations.  A grade will be issued each quarter for each period of OJT that is on the student’s schedule.  Failure to submit proper paperwork (timesheets, employer evaluations, or other documents) each quarter by the published due date will result in a failing grade for that grading period and removal from the course.  Students, Teachers, Parents/Guardians, and Employers are required to sign the Cooperative Training Agreement Forms to ensure all parties agree to the nature and requirements of the program.

Responsibilities of the Student:

• Signing and abiding by required agreements and forms (training agreement, training
plan, insurance, and emergency information, etc.)
• Maintaining accurate records of hours worked and earnings
• Demonstrating the employability skills essential for success on the job
• Following safety rules and instructions
• Demonstrating an understanding of the Child Labor Laws
• Discussing any employment-related problem that occurs with the teacher/coordinator
• Being a positive representative of the school, the community, and the *career and

Requirements:

Mandatory Hours-

For each period of OJT that is assigned to the student, one hour of work must be clocked at his/her employment per week.  In other words, if a student takes one period of OJT per day, then the minimum required weekly hours that students must work is (five) 5.  A student may work more than his/her minimum required hours, but not less.

Mandatory W2 Job:

You must have a job where you earn wages with a W2 form.  Monthly Time Cards with Pay Stubs must be submitted to me by the due dates. You will turn these in on Canvas.canvas.pngand never in person You will take a picture and place them in the Canvas assignment dropbox.   Both items must be turned in at the same time.  The assignment WILL NOT be counted if both items are not turned in.  Since there is always a lag of a week or two on Paystubs, you need to make sure you are turning in your paystubs each month in consecutive order.  Time Cards must be signed and may be signed by any supervisor.  Time cards will not be counted without both your signature and a supervisor's signature.

Attendance-

Students are required to mark themselves as present EVERY DAY to be counted present for On-the-Job Training.  lightbulb.pngIt will be different this year.

  1. Every day you will go on Canvas and take the ATTENDANCE QUIZ. (This will take you less than a minute)  Monday through Thursday, you will simply check that you are present.  You must do this every day before 1:00 p.m.  If you fail to do this you will be marked absent for the day in OJT.
  2. On Friday, you will do the same but you will also list the hours you worked and/or are going to work for the week.  This will be counted as a weekly grade.

It's a good idea to get your Timecard filled out early for it to be signed.  It doesn't matter which supervisor signs it.

question-mark.pngHaving trouble knowing where to find your paystub?  If you get a check, it is attached to that check.  California Paystub Generator

If you get your pay deposited electronically through your bank, then you have an electronic paystub.  You will need to ask for your log-in to get your paystub.  It is your right to have your paystub.  You should always check it to make sure you are getting paid correctly.  Money Symbol Transparent - Dollar Sign, HD Png Download - kindpng
